Measure Your Custom Awnings

Awning Height and Width

On a normal window installation, the awning width will be measured 6 inches wider than the width of the window. The awning height will be from the first lap of siding (normally 3 to 5 inches above the window) to the center of the window.

Example: For a window that measures 4 feet in height and 2 feet 6 inches in width, you will order an awning that measures measures 2 feet 3 inches to 2 feet 5 inches in height (2 feet, plus 3 to 5 inches) with a width of 3 feet (2 feet 6 inches, plus 6 inches).

Please be sure to measure carefully, as all awnings are custom made to your specifications.

Shutters

If there is space between your shutters and your windows, as shown below, mark a point on each side that is halfway between the window and the shutter. Measure between those points the determine your awning width.

If your shutters are mounted right against your windows, mark a point on each side in the center of the shutter frame (as shown below). Measure between these two points to determine your awning width.

Hint: You'll be mounting installation brackets at these points once your awnings arrive, so mark them well to save time on installation.
